Wei Ding, Senior Vice President, President A. O. Smith China

Wei Ding Wei Ding was named to his current position President A. O. Smith China in April 2017. He has profit and loss responsibility for A. O. Smith’s $560 million Chinese water heating and water treatment businesses which are located in Nanjing and Shanghai, China. He also is responsible for overseeing company investment in China through the A. O. Smith (China) Investment Co.

Wei joined A. O. Smith (China) Water Heater Co., Ltd. in 1997 as Materials Manager. The following year, he was named Deputy General Manager of the business and was promoted to General Manager in 1999. He was appointed Vice President-China of the former A. O. Smith Water Products Company in 2006 and named a Senior Vice President in 2011. He was named as President - A. O. Smith (China) Investment Co., Ltd., General Manager – A. O. Smith (China) Water Heater Co., Ltd. and A. O. Smith (Shanghai) Water Treatment Products Co. Ltd. in January 2013.

Wei earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in metal physics (materials engineering) from Beijing University of Science and Technology. He also holds a Master’s Degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Nevada-Reno. He currently serves as Vice Director of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association (CHEAA).
