Kulkarni, managing director of A. O. Smith India Water Products Pvt., Ltd., has
been named to the global listing of “50 Most Impactful Leaders in Water and Water Management.”
The recognition was given
during the World CSR Day event held today in Mumbai. The global list was announced by Dr. R. L.
Bhatia, the founder of World CSR Day and World Sustainability.
Members of the global
listing are selected by a jury of senior professionals in the water treatment
industry. The selection criteria
include:
- Improvement of water efficiency and
conservation;
- Demonstrated leadership within the sector
resulting in a positive impact in the advancement of water management;
- Contributions towards water-related groups,
associations, and institutions;
- Demonstration of good leadership and
governance; and
- Contributions to water awareness in the
community.
"The 50 Most Impactful Leaders in Water and Water
Management is a tribute to those who are missionaries and passionate about
water management,” Bhatia said. “Those
leaders who have believed that water management must contribute to social
change are recognized.”
“This honor is an
acknowledgement of the work being done by the A. O. Smith team in India and the
team’s effort in bringing forth ‘water solutions’ that help our consumers in
keeping themselves and their families safe by drinking safe water,” Kulkarni
observed.
“Our team works tirelessly
in studying inlet water conditions in Indian homes and then putting forth
residential water solutions that benefit our consumers,” he added.
Kulkarni, who joined A. O.
Smith as managing director in 2015, helped launch the company’s line of reverse
osmosis and RO + SCMT residential water purifiers in India. The premium line of water purifiers is
available in eight of the largest cities in India with plans to expand market
coverage to 17 cities later this year.
Kulkarni is a member of the
India CEO Forum and is on the CII National Committee of Design. He previously served as a jury member of the
India Design Mark, a government initiative with Good Design of Japan.
A. O. Smith entered the Indian
water heating market in 2008 and offers an extensive line of residential water
heating products designed for Indian consumers.
In 2010, the company opened a 76,000 square feet manufacturing operation
in Bangalore and expanded it to 297,000 square feet and began manufacturing
water purification products in 2015.
