New commercial electric water heaters are “as good as gold”
A. O. Smith’s new line of commercial electric water heaters, the Gold Series (DRE), the Gold Xi (DVE), and the Custom Xi (DSE), are designed specifically for demanding commercial applications. New features, including proprietary electronic controls and standard gold-plated elements on the DRE and DVE series, help make A. O. Smith the “gold standard” of commercial electrics.
The Gold Series features A. O. Smith’s patented Goldenrod ® gold-plated element which resists calcium adhesion and harmful lime scale accumulation up to five times that of a standard element in a wide variety of water conditions. The Goldenrod element also delivers excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. Staggered elements in each heater allow for larger surface area coverage and maximum heat transfer. The popular Gold Series is available in 50, 80, and 150-gallon tanks.
The new Gold Xi (extreme intelligence) features A. O. Smith’s proprietary electronic controls for precise temperature control, status condition, and diagnostics. The control system comes with a large LCD screen mounted on the front access panel, easy-to-navigate menu, and user prompts. In addition to displaying water heater status information, precise temperature settings, detailed diagnostics, and alert messages, the controls allow the user to select linear sequencing according to adjustable differential set points. An optional Economy Mode allows the user to lower the operating set points during non-peak demand periods. The Gold Xi is available in 50, 80, and 119-gallon storage tank sizes with inputs ranging from 6 kW to 54 kW and can be used as recovery heaters or boosters for sanitizing rinse water applications.
The Custom Xi series is favored by specifying engineers for high-demand industrial and commercial applications. These water heaters feature ASME tank construction, industrial-grade Incoloy sheathed heating elements, and come with A. O. Smith’s advanced electronic controls that deliver linear sequencing, element sensing, and Economy Mode. The units also feature a factory standard onboard low water cutoff. The Custom Xi series use a unique combination of conventional magnesium anode and a European-style powered anode for superior anodic protection. The powered anode is self-adjusting to water conditions and does not require maintenance or inspection. Custom Xi water heaters are available in 10 tank sizes ranging from 5 gallons up to 119 gallons with input options from as low as 3 kW to as high as 90 kW.
