S. Melissa Scheppele
Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Melissa Scheppele was named senior vice president and chief information officer in August 2020. She joined A. O. Smith as senior vice president in July 2020. She leads the A. O. Smith's Business and Technology Solutions (BTS) group, which works with each of the company’s business units to identify and deploy information technology solutions to achieve the company’s strategic objectives.
Prior to joining A. O. Smith, Melissa served as vice president and CIO at Triumph Group, a global aerospace and defense business, from 2016 to 2020. Before that, Melissa served as vice president and CIO at Ascend Performance Materials, a global specialty chemical manufacturer from 2013 to 2016. She has also held management positions at CIO By Request, Cooper Industries, Tyson Foods and Nestlé USA.
In 2022, Melissa was a finalist in the Tennessee CIO ORBIE Award for Global CIO of the Year. She is a member of the Society for Information Management (SIM), Manufacturers Alliance and TennesseeCIO.
Melissa earned a Bachelor of Arts in public administration and political science from California State University, Fullerton.
